FAQ: Downloading Data

What format are the downloads?
All datasets are available as CSV (Comma-Separated Values) files, which can be opened in Excel, Google Sheets, Python (pandas), R, or any data analysis tool.
Is the data free to download?
Yes. All data is derived from public government releases and is freely available for research, journalism, and educational purposes.
How often is the data updated?
Downloads reflect the current state of the archive database. As new documents are ingested and processed, the downloadable datasets grow automatically.
Can I use this data in my research or article?
Yes. Please cite the Epstein Document Archive (epsteininvestigation.org) as your data source. The underlying documents are U.S. government releases in the public domain.
Do the email downloads include email bodies?
No. The email CSV contains metadata only (date, sender, recipients, subject line). This protects against redistribution of sensitive content. Use the archive's search and browse features to read individual emails in context.
